If I pust dream till tomorrow...




"Do you wish your feet would one day keep walking ... Only trees and more trees and plenty of blue sky."

-Is the author describing the hardship it must take for the girls to get out of the place they are in? Is she referring the walking far from Mango street giving the reader a message that it will take more than just effort to succeed?

Will she stand alone forever?

"Someday I will have a best friend all my own. ... a red balloon, a balloon tied to an anchor."
-Does this ballon repersent the lonelyness Esperanza may sometimes feel within her friends and family. She must stay alone.

When I grow up I want to be remembered

"I want to be, like the waves on the sea, like the clouds in the wind, i'm me. One day i'll jump out of my skin. I'll shake the sky like a hundred violins.

-Is she descrinbing herself, or how she wants to get away from the life-style she lives in. Or is it referring to her wanted to get out on her own. Some type of freedo?

Is there something to reach out to?

"When I am to sad and too skinny to keep keeping, when I am a tiny thing against so many bricks, then it is I look trees...Four who reach and do not forget to reach. Four whose only reason is to be and be.
-Is Esperanza reaching for something she can not get? Does she want something to change in some sent. And what does it mean she said says the be and be?

Do you like these shoes?

"Do you like these shoes? But the truth is it scary to look down at your feet that is no longer yours and see attached a long long leg...

-When Sandra is writing the expression, what does she mean by the long long leg? If she referring to the changes that are occuring in the young woman's body?
